What’s new in Winter ’25?

As early as September 6, the first Salesforce production environments will receive an upgrade to Winter ’25. To find out the exact date for your instance, go to this address and select your environment. On that page, go to the “maintenance” tab and locate the “Winter ’25 Major Release” item.

Among the extensive number of changes (their full list is described, as always, in Salesforce Release Notes) are:

Conditional formatting of field values

Conditional formatting of field values received more than thirty-eight thousand points in a vote on the Salesforce idea exchange website (link) and will be implemented as part of the upcoming update. It will only be available if you use Dynamic Forms.

The new feature will allow us to format the icons available in the system, depending on the fulfillment of rules we define directly in Lightning App Builder.

Improvements in user management

With the Winter ’25 version, we will gain the ability to easily see how a user obtained each of his or her permissions. This will be possible thanks to the “Access Granted By” function available in the User Access Summary section.

Additionally, it will also be possible to edit users directly from the My Users list view. Salesforce will also add a “description” field for public groups and queues to more easily document changes made to the system. We will also be able to manage public group memberships (up to 100 participants at a time) directly from the public group summary view.

Changes to Flow

Winter ’25 will also bring many changes for Flow. These will include:

  • automatic flow creation based on natural language using generative artificial intelligence (in Beta),
  • a new error and warning panel, providing clearer messages to help resolve problems after flow is saved,
  • a new and more advanced Flow resource selection module featuring a refreshed user interface (including a crumb path for easier navigation),
  • real-time guidance displayed during flow creation to help comply with Salesforce best practices,
  • support for keyboard shortcuts (copy, paste, save).
