Salesforce and OpenAI Join Forces: A New Era of Intelligent Work and Commerce

A strategic partnership between Salesforce and OpenAI marks a new chapter in the history of AI-powered work. The integration of Agentforce 360 and ChatGPT ushers companies into an era of intelligent, contextual interactions, where AI operates quietly in the background, understands context, and supports users in real time.

Agentforce 360 in ChatGPT: CRM as a Conversation

As the global leader in AI-driven CRM, Salesforce is expanding its capabilities through deep integration with ChatGPT. Users can now query sales data, analyze customer conversations, or generate Tableau visualizations, without ever leaving ChatGPT. It’s another step toward a world where work happens through conversation rather than forms and menus.

Conversely, OpenAI’s frontier models, including GPT-5, are now embedded within the Salesforce ecosystem. They can be used to build agents and prompts inside Agentforce 360, supporting sales, service, and marketing teams alike.

As Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, noted:

“Our partnership with Salesforce is about making the tools people use every day work better together, so work feels more natural and connected.”

Agentic Commerce: Shopping in ChatGPT with Full Control

The integration also extends to Agentforce Commerce, a module that allows sellers to offer products directly within ChatGPT using the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) and Instant Checkout. This enables users to complete purchases without leaving the app, while sellers retain full control over orders, payments, and customer relationships.

For example, an outdoor footwear brand could share its catalog in ChatGPT so that when a user searches for “hiking boots,” they see the company’s offer and complete the purchase in one step with secure payment and instant confirmation.

ChatGPT and Codex in Slack: AI in the Flow of Work

Another piece of the puzzle is Slack, where ChatGPT becomes an active participant in team conversations. It can summarize long threads, generate responses, or even create presentation outlines based on Salesforce and Tableau data.

For development teams, OpenAI has introduced Codex, an agent that writes and edits code directly within Slack. Simply mention @Codex to generate a code snippet or get a link to the corresponding task in Codex Cloud.

As Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, puts it:

“By combining the world’s leading AI with the world’s leading CRM, we’re creating a trusted foundation for companies to become truly agentic organizations.”

AI in Natural Context – Without Changing Tools

The entire concept behind this collaboration rests on a simple principle: AI should appear where we work, not the other way around. Whether in Salesforce, Slack, or ChatGPT, users gain access to the same data, reports, and agents in one seamless experience.

This means less app-switching, faster decisions, and greater automation in everyday business processes.

Agentic Enterprise: A New Model for Business

The Salesforce–OpenAI partnership goes beyond technical integration, it embodies the vision of the Agentic Enterprise, where intelligent agents collaborate with people, analyze data, anticipate customer needs, and act autonomously in the background.

Work becomes more intuitive, and processes though less visible become far more effective. This is the future of SaaS: moving from clickable apps to conversational agents that truly understand business.
